THE 2ND ROYAL PICTURE SHOW – Film Festival

Limerick Royal Picture Show Film Festival Returns To The City This May

Limerick Royal Picture Show Film Festival Returns To The City This May

The second Royal Picture Show Film Festival takes place from Thursday 15 to Sunday 18 May at 69 O’ Connell Street, Limerick City.

Following on from the successful launch of the first film festival back in February, we now have details of our second weekend of cinema in this May.  These four mini film festivals are part of the programme for Limerick City of Culture 2014.

The four day festival will offer many cinematic delights with highlights including a MONTY PYTHON NIGHT (Saturday 17) where guest speaker JULIAN DOYLE tells the hilarious story of making films with the Python crew. Julian was editor on The Meaning of Life,  The Life of Brian (which we  will screen after his talk), Terry Gilliam’s Brazil and Time Bandits.  We will screen the engaging comedy QUARTET  made by Dustin Hoffman and featuring an all star cast (Maggie Smith, Billy Connolly, Michael Gambon). This screening is part of Bealtaine 2014– in celebration of our senior citizens.  We will also return to our Parents & Babies film show on Saturday 17 following its enormous success at our inaugural festival last February.

We will showcase some new fantastic Irish short films (some with Limerick connections) as well as a dip into the vast collection that comprises THE LIMERICK FILM ARCHIVE.  European cinema will be represented with a focus on Polish cinema on Sunday 18 and other European titles will feature throughout the four days in May.

We very much value the support of all film-goers and this time round will offer an inclusive PATRON’S TICKET which includes admission to all films and the ability to bring a guest at the concession rate.

Further details of the full programme and ticket prices will be available from Monday, 28 April and online at limerickroyal.ie, limetreetheatre.ie or 085-7323512.
