2025 is shaping up to be an exciting year at The Hunt Museum, with a calendar packed full of exhibitions, artistic talent, and diverse cultural experiences. Whether you’re an art enthusiast, a history buff, or simply looking for something different to experience in Limerick, there’s something for everyone at the museum this year. Here’s a quick look at five events you won’t want to miss.
Step into the Supernatural with Kwaidan – Encounters with Lafcadio Hearn
If you haven’t yet had the chance to visit Kwaidan – Encounters with Lafcadio Hearn, you’ve got just a little while left. Running until 22nd February 2025, this exhibition brings together 40 artists from Ireland and Japan to dive deep into the eerie, supernatural tales of Patrick Lafcadio Hearn, the esteemed Irish-Japanese writer. Drawing inspiration from his renowned 1904 ghost stories, the exhibition explores folklore, tradition, and mystery through stunning prints and contemporary artworks. It’s a rare opportunity to see a unique cross-cultural exploration of the supernatural.
Opening hours are Tuesday to Saturday, 10am – 5pm, and Sunday, 11am – 5pm. The museum is closed on Mondays. Admission is free.

A Must-See for Art Lovers: Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh’s Solo Exhibition
Starting on 6th March and running until 3rd April 2025, there’s a solo exhibition from one of Ireland’s top contemporary artists, Sinéad Ní Mhaonaigh. Her abstract and expressive works have earned her recognition both nationally and internationally, including the prestigious HOTRON Award and a place in the Royal Hibernian Academy. Her solo exhibition at The Hunt Museum will be a rare chance to see a substantial body of work by this leading Irish painter.
The Stories Woven into Cut from the Same Cloth
Opening on 17th April and running until 29th May 2025, this fascinating exhibition brings together art, science, and cultural storytelling in a truly unique way. Cut from the Same Cloth explores the powerful connections between ethnic minority groups and biomedical scientists, focusing on the emotional and cultural impact of textiles. Through a combination of textile photographs, scientific images printed on fabric, and characteristic textiles from migrant women, this exhibition brings attention to the role of textiles in shaping identity and belonging. Plus, Lorna Donlon’s interactive hand-woven tapestry QR code will connect you to a digital platform filled with community stories and research insights.
Limerick’s Own Richard Harris Takes Centre Stage
Limerick’s very own Richard Harris is the focus of this landmark exhibition, running from 3rd July to 20th November 2025. From his early years in Kilkee and Limerick City to his international fame as an award-winning actor, poet, singer, and raconteur, this exhibition celebrates his incredible career and lasting influence on the arts. You’ll have the chance to explore memorabilia, personal artefacts, and audio-visual displays that showcase his multi-talented personality, creative spirit and determination to overcome dyslexia. Whether you’re a long-time fan or just getting to know his work, this is one exhibition you’ll want to explore.
Calling All Artists! The Hunt Museum Launches Open Submission Exhibition
To wrap up the year, The Hunt Museum is launching its first-ever Hunt Open Submission Exhibition, running from 4th December 2025 to 12th February 2026. This exciting new initiative invites contemporary artists from across Ireland to submit their works for a chance to showcase them at the museum. Whether you’re an emerging or established artist, this exhibition offers a platform to get your work seen by a wider audience. Applications open in May 2025, so keep an eye out for more information if you’re looking to get involved.
