The open mic night was held in a bid to bring people together and get people to open up about their experience of loss. By connecting people through the Narrative 4 Open Mic Night, Narrative 4 hoped to lessen feelings of isolation and loneliness in the community through storytelling, sharing, and creating a sense of community.

Narrative 4 builds a community of empathic global citizens who improve the world through the exchange of personal narratives. Narrative 4 believe language and literature are essential tools for creating a better society.

The very suitable inaugural theme of A Narrative for Limerick Ann Blake will be AWAKENING. Awakening will be hosted by theatre-maker and musician, Ann Blake. Ann Blake is a familiar face both in theatre and as part of The Brad Pitt Light Orchestra. In theatre, Ann does everything from performing, directing and writing. Ann has been packing theatres with her award-winning show The Morning After The Night Before, which explores her own story, and the story of marriage equality in Ireland. Audiences will know Ann from performing as part of Choke Improve Comedy as well as the Brad Pitt Light Orchestra.

Narrative 4 is an international non-profit organization that uses the power of stories to break down barriers in society and empathy.

A Narrative for Limerick Ann Blake is a free event, and will be held from 7pm – 8pm Tuesday 27 March.

So, that in 20 years time people can look back and remember the events that were making the headlines.
