PHOTOS – A Viennese Prom at Milk Market
Word is on the street and tickets are moving briskly for the ICO’s Viennese Prom which takes Limerick by storm for two nights only on Thursday 28 and Friday 29 May @ 8pm in the beautiful setting of the city’s renovated Milk Market.
This lavish Prom concert features irrepressible conductor Jochen Rieder who will take Limerick audiences on a light-hearted journey through a fizzling assortment of much loved arias, music and dance by Johann Strauss. Rieder comes to Limerick on foot of a tour conducting world-renowned tenor Jonas Kaufmann and the orchestra look forward to working with Rieder for the first time.
Strauss’s waltzes and operettas remain some of the most popular in the world. Familiar tunes including The Blue Danube, Vienna Blood, The Radetsky March and much more feature in the fabulous Strauss roller-coaster. Exciting young German coloratura Gloria Rehm brings more than a touch of flamboyance to the evening, singing much-loved arias.
As always, the Irish Chamber Orchestra provides a lively display of polished sophistication bringing its own distinctive energy and expertise to what promises to be a terrific musical feast. Enjoy an expanded 35-piece orchestra for this gala prom in the heart of Limerick.
Savour some of the world’s most uplifting music with the best of Strauss and enjoy some culinary delights along the way.
RTE Lyric fm’s Classic Drive presenter Liz Nolan hosts this sophisticated affair. Tickets now available on 061-331549 or here.
