Abseiling Thomond Park has taken place for years for many different charities over the years such as ADAPT and in 2015 the abseiling was in aid of Marriage Equality.

“This year marks 10 years since she passed and each year I try to do something in her memory. I have had coffee mornings, an 80’s night, I have skydived and competed in runs and races such as Adare to Survive.” Annemarie said on her sister Eileen.

Abseiling Thomond Park has been a great success over the years and has raised a lot of money for well-deserved charities with the person abseiling getting to choose which charities they are raising money for.

Milford Hospice needs fundraising as it gets 75 percent of its annual budget every year from the HSE and the balance must be raised every year primarily by fundraising initiatives undertaken by the local community such as Abseiling Thomond Park. This money enables them to provide care to patients in the Hospice, the Day Unit and in their own homes and to support families and friends throughout, and beyond, that person’s involvement with Milford Hospice.

Milford Hospice’s newly constructed 3,700 square metre specialist palliative care unit opened recently and has provided improved levels of privacy and dignity for all patients. The Harvest fair and some other fundraising activities are playing vital roles in supporting the developing and continuing specialist hospice services with rising occupancy levels.

While some funding is already in place for the Centre Milford Hospice will have to raise the balance so any support, no matter how little, that you can give to them to make this project a reality will be much appreciated.

The Irish Cancer Society was another charity that benefitted from the Abseiling Thomond Park event that took place on Saturday. The Irish Cancer Society is a national charity dedicated to eliminating cancer as a major health problem and improving the lives of those living with cancer. Cancer incidence is on the rise. By 2020, 1 in 2 of us will receive a cancer diagnosis in our lifetime. The Irish Cancer Society is working to stop this. By investing in cancer research and providing care and support to people affected by cancer, the Irish Cancer Society is stopping cancer in its tracks. Through research, they are finding out more and more about how to diagnose, treat and how to stop cancer before its starts. By providing information, advice and support they are supporting people through their cancer experience and helping to reduce the fear of a cancer diagnosis.

“I need your help to sponsor us. all online funds will go to Milford Hospice and all offline funds will go to The Irish Cancer Society in memory of my beautiful Sister and the hope that the funds raised will go towards helping others who are suffering from an illness or need the services provided by Milford and/or The Irish Cancer Society,” Annemarie said.
