It has been announced that an ACT for Meningitis street collection will take place on Saturday, May 19. The ACT for Meningitis street collection will begin and 9 am and run throughout the day, with all funds from the collection going towards the charity.

ACT for Meningitis is a charity which aims to raise awareness and educate society about the signs and symptoms of meningitis while offering free support services in Ireland to those affected by the disease. The ACT for Meningitis support service is tailored to the needs of the individual /family to find the most appropriate and beneficial service for them.

ACT for Meningitis offers a number of services including creative therapies-including play and art therapy which helps children deal with the impact of the disease, free counselling services for families or individuals who have been affected by Meningitis, Cranial Sacral Therapy, physiotherapy home visits, one to one support and family support days.

ACT for Meningitis hosts a number of fundraising efforts throughout the year including the annual Lola’s Ball. The annual ball is held in honour of Lola Jane Nagle by her family to remember Lola, who passed away in 2015, aged just 17 months, due to Meningitis. All proceeds from the ball go to ACT for Meningitis as well as aiming to raise awareness of the disease. In 2016, Lola’s Ball raised a phenomenal €16,786.10 for an ACT for Meningitis
