Adare Manor Golf Course CELEBRATES A YEAR TO REMEMBER

Since reopening in April 2018, The Adare Manor Golf Course has experienced great success on the world stage, being recognised in awards and accolades both nationally and internationally. April 20th marked this extraordinary 12-month period with special first birthday celebrations.

A year ago, the team at Adare Manor were joined by Irish golfing stars, Rory McIlroy, Padraig Harrington, Paul McGinley and Shane Lowry to launch the brand-new layout following a spectacular renovation led by world-renowned golf course architect Tom Fazio. Fazio set out to ensure the resort, with its unique features, would take place among the finest courses in the world, and so it has proved.

Success for the resort quickly followed the launch as they were awarded IGTOA’s ‘Golf Resort of the Year’, ‘Best New Golf Course’ at the 2018 World Golf Awards, placed within Golf Digest’s ‘Best Resorts in Great Britain and Ireland’ and were named ‘Best Renovation 2018’ by Golf.com, among numerous other accolades.

The redesigned golf course now sits alongside some of the most respected layouts in the game within a variety of international rankings and has been recognised by some of the most informed figures in the sport. Fazio transformed a pre-existing quality golf course into a layout immediately capable of hosting the world’s most prestigious events, an ambition which will be realised next year, when the 2020 JP McManus Pro-Am takes place at Adare Manor; the first tournament to be hosted over the new design.

To celebrate the occasion, staff from Adare Manor took to the golf course to leave guests in no doubt as to the significance April 20 is for all involved at the resort [see image attached].

Reflecting on the previous year, Mr McManus commented: “I’m delighted with it, the reviews have been very good since reopening. We will keep striving to make it better and better and improve anything that needs improving.”

Adare Manor’s CEO, Colm Hannon added: “We set about creating a golf course that would have the wow factor from start to finish, where every little detail is considered. The course, the service, the pro shop, our caddies and golf services team are all part of this overall experience. From the moment you enter our gates until the point of departure, your golf experience here must be seamless. Tom Fazio and his colleagues have created a world-class course, and it is now over to us to maintain and preserve this very special product so that it continues to improve every year. Our entire team are constantly striving to improve and enhance our overall offering, and every aspect of our service and delivery is always being scrutinised.

“As we celebrate our first birthday, we are delighted to have received the global recognition we have over the 12 months. It’s a true testament to the wonderful resort we have here today and its special surroundings, along with the passion and commitment that every person on our team demonstrates day-in and day-out. We look forward to another great and exciting year here at Adare Manor.”

The complete reconstruction of the golf course complemented the extensive refurbishment of the opulent Manor House, which reopened in November 2017. Adding to the Adare Manor’s accolades, the five-star hotel and golf resort was declared ‘Hotel of the Year 2018’ in the highly competitive and globally-renowned Virtuoso ‘Best of the Best Awards 2018’.

Guests who have visited the 842-acre estate over the year, have not only experienced a championship standard golf course and the matching timeless grandeur of the Manor House, but they experience the entirety of a magical resort. Surrounded by medieval ruins, walled gardens and winding woodland paths, the resort encompasses a new 42-bedroom wing, expansive ballroom, La Mer spa, and an exceptional gastronomy programme all help to deliver unforgettable guest experiences.
