AIB 1 Million Fund will help a dramatic impact on the educational programmes that Learning Hub Limerick can deliver to young people and families

Learning Hub Limerick has been shortlisted and a chance to receive €20,000.00 from the AIB 1 Million Fund which has just launched and they need your vote to win the money which will help a dramatic impact on the educational programmes that they can deliver to young people and families and would enhance the lives of the families they support!
Learning Hub Limerick is an educational charity based in Kileely, Thomondgate who provide in-school, after-school and holiday programmes to encourage children to be creative, curious, and develop a love of education. Although they work closely with Corpus Christi National School (Moyross), Thomond Primary School (Ballynanty) and Thomond Community College, their doors are open to everyone.
They work with children from as young as four or five years of age up to late teens and older and offer a range of dynamic educational after-school programmes: these help children to remain engaged with education in a safe and fun environment.
James Blake, CEP of Learning Hub Limerick said, “We work with teachers in local schools to ensure that the programmes we run reinforce work being done in the classroom. We offer in-school programmes where schools feel they need some extra expertise. We run after-school programmes in STEAM, Music, Art, Maths homework support, Kickboxing, Boxing, Gardening and Healthy Eating. These programmes are delivered by our staff and trained third-level volunteers and our small class sizes mean children get close attention and time to learn through fun with plenty of support. We run Easter, Summer and mid-term camps to keep children engaged with and enjoying learning in caring and supportive surroundings. We also run an innovative programme, Creative After Care. This exciting project works with young people who have grown up in the Care System but are transitioning from Care to living on their own. Through referrals from a variety of agencies, including TUSLA and Epic, the programme engages young people in creative programmes to help them find support, nourish their interests and enable them to flourish.”

Learning Hub Limerick receives no core funding. For most of the funding they receive, they must apply annually to a wide array of statutory, private and philanthropic organisations and they have been very fortunate to receive funding over the years. However, funding streams are limited, yet all costs such as consumables, materials, insurance and energy bills increase year on year. The Hub charges between €2 and €5 per activity and no child is excluded if they cannot afford this charge. Increasing these charges would risk making the hub’s programmes too expensive for children in the community.
That is why support from the AIB Community €1 Million Fund 2025 would be so helpful. It would help the hub to enhance the quality of the programmes they deliver to children and families in the community, boosting all of the activities they provide and ensuring that it can all be enjoyed in a safe and happy environment. They really appreciate any votes that you can give them so please help The Learning Hub as in doing so you are helping Limerick!
