Ailish Tynan 2015 concert with Irish chamber orchestra
The Irish chamber orchestra welcomes an Ailish Tynan concert 2015 to join them at Christmas. Ailish has drawn large crowds to these festive performances in the past. This year, the ICO visits Ailish’s home town of Mullingar where she will perform for the first time back home complete with string orchestra.
Performances will be held at St. Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick, Thursday, December 17 at 8pm. The second performance at St. Paul’s Church, Mullingar will take place on Friday, December 18 at 8pm.
Ailish Tynan is one of the most colourful and entertaining sopranos. She trained at Trinity College, the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the Guildhall, London. She was a vilar young artist at the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, a BBC new generation artist and is a former recipient of the Rosenblatt Recital Prize at BBC Cardiff singer of the world.
Christmas concertos were popular in Italy. Extracts from Corelli’s Christmas Concerto along with the Pastorale from Scarlatti’s Christmas Cantata are popular festive works from the baroque era. Ailish Tynan sings a selection of love songs. Ailish Tynan concludes the programme with a selection of Christmas carols, starting with Koppangen, one of Sweden’s finest carols. Finally, Oh Holy Night is the icing on the cake!
You can purchase tickets online directly from the ICO for St. Mary’s Cathedral, Limerick on the Irish chamber orchestra’s website. For the St. Paul’s church performance, you can purchase tickets from Mullingar Arts Centre.
