‘A Place Called Home ‘is a collection of Alison’s most recent work, continuing her exploration of rural Ireland through the seasons.

The exhibition will run from Tuesday, November 1 to Wednesday, November 30 at Friars’ Gate Theatre, Kilmallock, Co. Limerick.

The official opening is on Friday, November 4 at 7 pm. All are welcome and encouraged to attend to see Alison’s beautiful paintings of our Irish landscape.

Growing up and living in the countryside has influenced the way Alison perceives the world around her. Ireland, with all its beauty and its ruggedness, is a constant inspiration.

Alison said, “I  am fascinated by the sky, the seasons, the transitions from each day to night and she tries to show the emotion she feels through her paintings. The forgotten roads, the old rundown cottages and the wildlife of Ireland are what attract me the most out of it all.”

There is a story in the everyday things that surround us, and Alison paints those that she finds most interesting. Every now and again she drifts between what is real and what is imaginary, which brings an illustrative quality and a fairy-tale element to Alison’s paintings.

Alison’s use of soft pastel, charcoal and oils allows a sense of freedom to her expression as an artist. Being self-taught, Alison is constantly learning and developing her true style which has been described as contemporary in its feel, emotive, moody and atmospheric.

Alison’s work is also available to view in Great ARTitude in Co.Cork, Adare Draiocht in County Limerick, Hambly and Hambly at Dunbar House in Enniskillen in the United Kingdom, The Bridge in Ballina/Killaloe, The Russell Gallery in Co. Clare, and By Design in Castletroy, Limerick.
