Mayor of the City and County of Limerick Cllr James Collins said: “The All Ireland Community and Council Awards 2019 highlight the best of work that is being carried out by a local authority in conjunction with local groups and organisations. The eight projects shortlisted for Limerick are a testament to the hard work and dedication of staff on both sides. The work being carried out as part of the projects is very important and have a significant impact on the respective local communities.”

“Limerick City and County Council has also been shortlisted for Council of the Year. Congratulations and best of luck at the awards.”

Commenting on the shortlisting, Dr Pat Daly, Deputy Chief Executive of Limerick City and County Council said: “I’m delighted that we have a total of eight projects shortlisted. The projects showcase the breadth of work that is carried out by Limerick City and County Council in conjunction with communities across Limerick.”

“It is important that these projects are recognised, as they help to forge co-operation and understanding between the local authority and community and voluntary groups. The main beneficiaries of these projects are the local people who will be able to avail of these services.”

“And having Limerick City and County Council shortlisted for Council of the Year means that the judges are seeing the value of the work we are doing and the positive impact this work is having in local communities across Limerick.”
