A number of Limerick community-focused projects and nominated community volunteer, Helen O’Donnell, shortlisted for LAMA All-Ireland Community and Council Awards 2026

A number of Limerick City and County Council’s (LCCC) community-focused projects as well as the nominated community volunteer have been shortlisted for the Local Authority Members Association (LAMA) All-Ireland Community and Council Awards 2026.
Representing the very best of civic pride, innovation, community spirit and volunteerism, the shortlisted nominations showcase the breadth and vibrancy of local initiatives underway across Limerick.
Shortlisted Entries for Limerick City and County Council are Limerick Going For Gold for “Best Green Sustainable Initiative”. The flagship community environmental programme celebrates and supports citizen-led action in sustainability, biodiversity, the circular economy and local environmental enhancement. The project is delivered by LCCC in partnership with local communities and is supported substantially by the JP McManus Charitable Foundation.
Limerick City Tidy Towns Chairperson, Helen O’Donnell, has been shortlisted for “Community Volunteer of the Year”. As Chair of Limerick City Tidy Towns and co-founder of Team Limerick Clean-Up, Helen, a longstanding advocate for community improvement and environmental stewardship in Limerick, has seen her leadership drive hundreds of volunteers to transform public spaces and foster civic pride across the city and county.
Nominated for Best Community Transport Initiative is the Active Travel Interactive Map, this innovative digital tool from Limerick City and County Council promotes sustainable travel options, helping residents and visitors explore safe and accessible walking and cycling routes throughout the region.

Co-Plan, Keeping Limerick on Track is nominated for “Best Use of Technology & Innovation in Local Government”. Recognised in the collaboration and leadership category, Co-Plan is Limerick City and County Council’s digital platform to co-ordinate planning, engagement and service delivery.

The nominations reflect the determination, creativity and pride of our residents, volunteers and council teams who work tirelessly to make Limerick a greener, more connected and sustainable place to live. The LAMA All-Ireland Community and Council Awards celebrate exemplary projects, partnerships and volunteers from local authorities and community groups across Ireland. The awards ceremony will take place on 28 February 2026 at the Dublin Royal Convention Centre.
