Limerick is set to host the 2026 Alzheimer Memory Walk at Mungret Park on Sunday, September 20.
Supported by Aviva, the 2026 edition of the walk will be the seventh year of the event helping to raise funds for the Alzheimer Society of Ireland.
The event will form part of a nationwide Alzheimer’s Memory Walk taking place in more than 40 locations across Ireland ahead of World Alzheimer’s Day on September 21.

Speaking about this year’s event, organisers said, “We want this Alzheimer’s Memory Walk to be our biggest and best yet. Join our Local Walk Champions and let’s walk together to spread awareness about Alzheimer’s and other Dementias and support those living with dementia and their families. With walk locations nationwide, there is sure to be one near you.”
Walkers will gather at Mungret Park at 11 am on Sunday, September 20, before taking part in a 5km route.
The walk aims to raise awareness and vital funds to support people living with Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia, as well as their families and carers.
The Alzheimer Society of Ireland is the leading dementia-specific service provider in Ireland. The ASI works across the country in the heart of local communities, providing dementia-specific services and supports and advocating for the rights and needs of all people living with dementia and their carers.
The group say, “Our vision is an Ireland where people on the journey of dementia are valued, can realise their rights and exercise choice, and are living well where they choose. A national non-profit organisation, The Alzheimer Society of Ireland advocates, empowers, and champions the rights of people living with dementia and their communities to quality support and services.”
