Analog Devices Inc Family Open Day 2018 Attracts over 1,100 People

Analog Devices Inc Family Open Day opens doors to the local community. Over 1,100 people visited Analog Devices Inc Family Open Day at their plant in Raheen Business Park, Limerick.

The day-long event was packed full of interactive activities, talks and demonstrations designed to give attendees of all ages an understanding of ADI and its role as an employer, a global technology leader and a long-standing promoter of STEM.

Through fun science experiments and robotics workshops, children’s imaginations were awakened and their curiosity encouraged.

The world of engineering was brought to life when guest speaker Dr Niamh Shaw, an Irish engineer, scientist, performer and explorer of all things Space, delivered three separate talks and a number of ADI employees delivered demo’s on some of the innovative projects initiated at the Limerick plant.

Adults and children also had an opportunity to take a Virtual Reality tour of the manufacturing clean room with VR headsets and dress up in clean room gear.

Denis Doyle, VP of Manufacturing, Analog Devices Inc, said, “For over 40 years our operation has been embedded in the local community. And during that time we have held a formidable presence on the Irish and global technology scene. The Family Open Day gave everyone working for Analog Devices a unique opportunity to showcase why we stand at the forefront of technological development and show how they contribute to it.”

“It can be hard explaining to family and friends what we do at work, why it’s so important and why we spend so much time there! Through the Open Day, we could demonstrate how our technology and solutions have a profound impact on people’s lives and on our environment. We estimate that 8 lives a day are saved because our solutions are used by diverse applications like innovative car safety systems, next generation of preventative health care and environmental monitoring solutions. I hope our visitors gained a better understanding of what we do and why we do it,” he continued.
