By I Love Limerick correspondent Peter Cooney
84-year old Angela Lynch from Lower Park, Corbally has been gifted a brand-new bicycle courtesy of a local Limerick bike shop.
Local Limerick lady Angela brought her bike in for repair to The Bike Shop located on O’Connell Avenue, where Angela has been a loyal customer for years.
Owner Joe Carroll and staff member John O’ Loughlin lent Angela a brand new bicycle as while repairing her bike, however shortly after learning her bike to be beyond repair, they presented her with a brand new bike free of charge.
Joe at Bike Shop kindly gifts Angela at 84 the loan of a stunning new bike while he repairs her old one! #Class #LuimneachAbú @TheMilkMarket @LiveableLimk @LkCycleDesign @LKCommuters pic.twitter.com/0FIGntGws7

Deirdre Power, a local Limerick photographer who has been capturing Angela on her bike for years, was there to capture Angela’s heartwarming reaction, which will guarantee to melt your heart.
Angela has been a loyal customer to staff member John, after purchasing her fist bike from him 55 years ago, in bike shop ‘Siopa Rothar’.
Deirdre Power, who captured Angela receiving her bike, told us, “I went up on Friday to buy myself a bike to buy a bike and she had no bike and then I met her in the market and she told me the amazing news about Joe giving her the bike. Angela is from our parish and a formidable character on her bicycle. I have been photographing for years. This story is about the wonder of giving and how Joe has done something so kind for a person that is a well known and well-loved lady and who is a welcome sight cycling on the streets of the city. With the new Limerick urban plan encouraging us all to cycle more Angela is the perfect role model for this! A lot of people on social media had offered to donate Angela a bike but Joe had already gifted it. So hopefully they will shop locally with him.”

Angela is quite the popular lady as dozens of people took to Twitter to wish her well and recall good memories of her cycling the streets of Limerick.
One person wrote, “Some woman…always admire seeing her cycling around the city and say to myself that I hope I’m still cycling at her age.”
Another wrote, “Such a lovely kind hearted lady. She had been visiting us on the Debenhams Picket every week over the last year and brings us sweets and cake”
All of us at I Love Limerick would like to thank Joe and the team at The Bike Shop on this generous gift and would like to wish Angela the very best as she continues to cycle around Limerick!
