Contracts signed for new social housing units in Ardagh, County Limerick
Limerick City and County Council and Jada Projects Ltd. have signed contracts for new social housing units in Ardagh, County Limerick
Limerick City and County Council (LCCC) has announced that contracts for a project valued at more than €3 million with Jada Projects Limited have been signed for ten new social housing units in O’ Connor Park.
The project, valued at €3,188,195 (excluding VAT), will see the development of four one-bedroom apartment units, four two-bedroom two-storey units and two three-bedroom two-storey units. LCCC believes the project will mark a significant step forward in addressing the housing needs of the community, with the project aimed to be completed in December 2026.
The site, which is a greenfield location within the existing O’Connor Park housing estate, will undergo extensive site development works including new footpaths, an estate road, boundary treatments and landscaping works.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, described the development as “another small, welcome step” to addressing the housing needs across County Limerick. He believes housing projects across the county will be an “important factor” in sustainable development.
The Mayor said, “I look forward to seeing this project progress, with safe, comfortable homes to be provided for ten more individuals and families.”
Cathaoirleach of the Newcastle West Municipal District, Cllr Michael Collins, described the signing of contracts as a “big vote of confidence in the future of the village of Ardagh”.
He said, “We are continuing to address local housing needs and support families within our communities, while keeping our county towns and villages thriving. I look forward to the positive impact this development will bring.”
Director General at Limerick City and County Council, Dr. Pat Daly, stated the project marks a “positive step forward” to help address the housing needs across the entire county.
The Director General said, “These ten new units will be built to high standards in terms of comfort and sustainability, helping to reduce energy costs for residents. Delivering housing developments throughout Limerick is key to building a more balanced and sustainable future. I’m pleased to see this initiative moving ahead.”
