Arrowhead Union Ensembles are coming to the University Concert Hall this April

April 8th American orchestra Arrowhead Union Ensembles will perform in the University Concert Hall in Limerick, together with the local Limerick School of Music, which is a unique combination. The American orchestra, two ensembles from Arrowhead Union High School Chamber Strings and the Symphony Band created for the 2017 performance tour of Ireland will perform works by Gustav Holst, John Mackey and David O’Fallon and accompanied by the Limerick School of Music.

The Arrowhead Chamber Strings in a comprehensive and standards-based class consisting of violin, viola, cello, and double bass. The Chamber Strings is made up of grade 9-12 students, and some advanced 7th and 8th Wind Ensemble grade students.  Students are expected to fully prepare all parts individually outside of class to promote ensemble awareness within the rehearsal. 

The Symphonic Band is a comprehensive and standards-based class consisting of students from grades 9-12. Students will expand their understanding of fundamentals, music concepts, and technique on his or her instrument. This class prepares students and the class as a whole for concerts, festivals, chamber music, and solo playing opportunities. Students are expected to fully prepare all parts individually outside of class to promote ensemble awareness within the rehearsal.

Many members also participate in outside music ensembles such as the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra, University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Youth Wind and Jazz Ensembles, and other organisations around the country. This ensemble continues a rich tradition of commissioning new works.

The concert takes place April 8 at 8 pm, Tickets for a concert at the University Concert Hall will cost €10, and there is a €5 discount for students and senior citizens. In other words: a nice opportunity to cheaply visit the University Concert Hall while listening to beautiful music!
