Art Exhibition at Dooradoyle Library 2019
The exhibition running at Dooradoyle library will be an eclectic mix of artwork from three very different artists, including Paul Weerasekera, Lynda Ryan and Kath Tiernan. You can look forward to a range of very colourful artwork displaying everything from local architecture to portraits and from colourful flowers to the magical theme of fairies.
Paul Weerasekera lives and works in Limerick. Originally from Colombo, Sri Lanka, he studied Architecture/Art and Design in the UK. Paul has exhibited artwork in both group and solo shows over the years, and he tutors art classes in the city. He not only paints local architecture but is a very keen portrait artist as well. His chosen media is often acrylic, but he also paints with watercolour, pastel and pencil. His work is on display across the globe, particularly in the USA.
Artist Lynda Ryan is a native of Limerick she studied ceramics and then decided to concentrate on painting. Lynda helped out at the gallery on Bedford Row and she continues to network with other artists in the city. She paints landscape and portrait, along with movie scenes. Her bright and colourful pictures are a joy to behold.
Kathy Tiernan lives near Lough Gur and was born in Kildare. She has painted for many years and uses oil, acrylic or watercolour as her chosen media. Her work is influenced by the local countryside. Farm animals that roam the open fields and the mythical association with Lough Gur and Grange Stone Circle feature in her work.
The exhibition will run from Tuesday, July 2 to Tuesday, July 16. Dooradoyle Library will celebrate the exhibition with an official Open Night on Friday, July 5 at 6 pm, all are welcome to attend.
