8 Limerick artists have been awarded a total of €152,060 through Arts Council Bursary Awards, recognising 258 artists nationally
Eight Limerick artists join 258 artists nationally in being awarded Arts Council‘s Bursary Awards for 2026, which has seen a collective €4.3 million awarded through the latest round of the scheme this year.
The eight artists based in Limerick, Helena Enright, Heather Griffin, Kathleen Doherty, Michael Dooley, Padraig Kenny, Teresa Collins, Jennifer Mehigan, and Doireann O’Malley, have been awarded a total of €152,060.
The Limerick artists recognised represent a broad range of arts in Ireland, with arts participation, circus, English literature, and visual arts all being the artistic disciplines funded, reflecting the diverse and fluid nature of arts practice.

The Arts Council’s bursary awards, on behalf of the state, support individual artists with a grant of up to €20,000, which provides practitioners the time and resources necessary to think, research, reflect and engage with their arts practice.
The Limerick artists have received bursaries of between €17,160 and the maximum €20,000.
The awards emphasise the value and benefit that an extended process of engagement can bring to an artist’s development. The works and learnings developed through these awards benefit both the individual artist, audiences and the wider arts ecosystem in Ireland.
Minister for Culture, Communications and Sport, Patrick O’Donovan said, “Ireland’s reputation as a cultural powerhouse is reliant on strong state supports to artists. In providing over 250 artists from right across Ireland with time and opportunity to develop their artistic practice, these awards recognise the intrinsic value of the arts and the benefits they bring to our society.”
Director of the Arts Council, Moling Ryan commented, “The bursary scheme is central to how the Arts Council supports the arts in Ireland. We recognise the difficulties artists often face in sourcing the time and resources necessary to make great art. These awards will support artists to further develop Ireland’s vibrant, creative culture.”
Yonit Kosovske also received an Arts Council Music Bursary Award to further her skills in improvisation and composition. Yonit has an arts practice primarily based in Limerick City and teaches at UL in the Irish World Academy of Music and Dance. She regularly performs and collaborates in Limerick, and is the co-director of both the Limerick Early Music Festival and of H.I.P.S.T.E.R. (Historically Informed Performance Series, Teaching, Education and Research).
