Avista’s Job Shadow Week 2026 creates inclusive workplaces for people with disabilities across industries in Limerick from May 18 to 22.

The initiative, delivered through Avista’s WorkAbility programme, gave people with disabilities the chance to shadow workplace mentors and gain first-hand experience across a range of industries.

As part of the initiative, Film in Limerick supported Avista with its Screenability programme, which was recently recognised with a nomination at the Global Production Awards, joining Limerick’s Fresh Film as one of three Irish nominees at the event.

Paul C Ryan, Regional Film Manager at Film in Limerick, said, “We are so thrilled that our Screenability initiative has received this recognition at the Global Production Awards. Fantastic work is being done with our partners, including Avista and the National Talent Academies to broaden access opportunities to the screen industries for all and to ensure that there is a place for all abilities both behind and in front of the camera.

“We are so grateful to all our partners and all the productions for working with us to make this a reality and we are looking forward to celebrating Irish film and our diverse crew base at the event.”

Businesses from across Limerick city and county participated in the programme, helping participants explore potential career paths, build confidence and develop workplace skills in supportive environments tailored to their interests and abilities.

Last year, businesses from across Limerick took part in the initiative. Carol-Ann O’ Toole from Limerick City had the opportunity to Job Shadow in Stryker and took a lot from the experience. “I went to Stryker in Raheen. It was a lovely place to go to, the people were very friendly and what they do there is very interesting, making things like medical devices.”
