With their motto “We sing with pain, hope, honour and pride”, the Banat al Quds Women’s Choir from Palestine, performs a rare Irish date on October 28 at the UCH Limerick, presented by Irish Artists for Palestine.

Banat al-Quds is an all-female choir from the occupied West Bank in Jerusalem.  Formed in 2013 by the Edward Said National Conservatory of Music, the choir brings together over 40 young women whose voices carry a message of resilience, dignity, and cultural pride.

Hosted by Irish Artists for Palestine, the choir will perform in Dublin, Limerick, and Belfast, offering Irish audiences a unique opportunity to stand in solidarity with the people of Palestine through music, a language of resistance and connection.

Led by Palestinian composer and conductor Suhail Khoury, Banat al-Quds performs a repertoire that blends classical Arab compositions with original works celebrating Palestinian heritage. The choir’s performances invoke deep emotional responses, offering space for reflection, grief, and hope.

This is more than a musical tour. It forms part of a broader cultural and humanitarian initiative aimed at amplifying Palestinian voices and fostering connections between Irish and Palestinian communities. At a time when silence is complicity, these concerts serve as a powerful act of cultural affirmation and international solidarity.

The show takes place at University Concert Hall, Limerick, on October 28, with tickets available on the UCH website.

Irish Artists for Palestine is a network of musicians, writers, actors, and cultural workers in Ireland committed to expressing solidarity with the Palestinian people and supporting their struggle through art, culture, and activism.
