Banogue National School is swapping school books for style with a fashion show fundraiser to raise money for a new state-of-the-art outdoor classroom

Banogue National School will take to the catwalk on Thursday, March 19, at the Fitzgerald’s Woodlands House Hotel in Adare, which will be transformed into a temple of couture.
Banogue NS, the local afterschool, and the crèche have staged a spectacular “coup de théâtre,” joining forces with the Holman Lee Model Agency to bring some serious vogue to the village.
At the official launch, Principal Sheila Cagney explained that the drive behind the sequins is deeply practical. The goal? A state-of-the-art outdoor classroom. She said, “Standard grants simply don’t cover a project like this,” Cagney noted, emphasising that the school is “putting our best foot forward – quite literally – to give children a space to learn in the fresh air.”
The evening isn’t just about the runway; it’s a full-blown celebration of Limerick’s retail soul. Organised by Asta Lee, a proud school parent, the event will feature a curated selection from Newcastle West, The fashion capital of the West, Adare, village chic at its finest and Bruff and Charleville, bringing that essential cross-border flair.

Beyond the strutting, attendees can raid the “Shopping Village,” a collection of cool items you won’t find at your local mega-mall. It’s a chance to support local boutiques while building a greener future for the next generation.
Organisers say it’s not just about the clothes, but about building a better future for their children. Some familiar faces from the school are also expected to make an appearance on the runway.
The buzz in the schoolyard is electric, and tickets are moving faster than a model can move in six-inch heels. If you want to witness the most stylish night in the mid-west, you’ll need to move fast.
So, dust off your best outfit, and head to the Woodlands. Come for the fashion, stay for the community spirit, and help Banogue trade the blackboard for the great outdoors.
Tickets are available online now through Eventbrite. Supporters are also invited to help raise funds by taking part in the online raffle, with tickets available through iDonate.
