Bellissimo Limerick are recruiting currently and offering people who are looking for a long-term career in hairdressing the opportunity to do an apprenticeship at the salon.

This position entails paid work from Monday to Saturday, the first five days will require you to work on the salon floor with all the top stylists of the salon, working alongside them learning and helping them through their day-to-day work and clients. The sixth day entails a full day of training every Monday where you will be taught all the skills necessary to be a top hairdresser and stylist. You must be over the age of 16 to do the apprenticeship.

At the end of this position, you have a highly recognised qualification worldwide in Level 2 City and Guilds. The length of training varies from 3 to 5 years depending on previous experience or depending on your own commitment.

Bellissimo Limerick is one Ireland’s biggest hair salon which opened first in Limerick in 1999 and has continued to evolve and grow over the years. It started as one building with a coffee house upstairs and a beauty salon and hair salon downstairs. In 2004, it expanded and they bought the next-door computer shop and opened the Bellissimo Academy.

Speaking to Lauren Masterson, Senior Stylist and Master Colour Expert of Bellissimo Limerick about the apprenticeship opportunity said, “The apprenticeship advantages are that you are being paid and you are top working alongside top stylists, you are getting a real salon experience, you are learning from them day to day with a day of purely training one on one with me and them.

I previously won Bronze in the TrendVision 2020 UK & Ireland Colour Specialist Category last year, and we are going again this year so hopefully we will get higher than third this time. I also made it to the Regional Heat of the TrendVision Awards a couple of years prior to this as well and I am Master Colour Expert. If aspiring stylists are looking to get involved in competition work, get an education and achieve a Level 2 qualification which is recognised worldwide, then Bellissimo is the place to be!”

Lauren commented on why Bellissimo is a great place to work saying, “We are here for the future of Bellissimo to pass on what we have learnt to the next and to see them coming up and begin taking clients beside us. We are invested in the training. There’s a great vibe working here, we have previously gotten involved with huge events, and so many different things so it’s a great place to work and to progress, there’s something new to do every year.”

Darragh Curtin, Owner of Bellissimo Limerick speaking on their recent reopening said, “It would have been hard to believe when we closed for lockdown on Christmas Eve that it would be 136 days before we would have our team and our clients get to return to the salon, but these have been historic times. It is a wonderful relief to all of us to be back doing what we love and to have each day spent with clients who are so appreciative of all we do.

There is a genuine sense of liberation and our clients are sharing the excitement. We are now looking forward to recruiting and welcoming new members for our team to train with us and deliver the exceptional service for which we are renowned.”
