Billy Hurley is a self taught Folk-Pop artist from Limerick

Limerick singer songwriter Billy Hurley has released his new single, ‘Favourite Place To Be’.

The track is the second of folk-pop artist Billy Hurley to be released under BitDepth, a Limerick-based music and culture collective which is co-founded by Dylan Flynn, of Dylan Flynn and The Dead Poets. Flynn produced, mixed, and mastered the track.

Earlier this year, Hurley created his single ‘Storm’ alongside Flynn, with the track being mixed by Gavin Murray of the Dead Poets.  

Dylan Flynn and the Dead Poets are a Limerick-based indie-pop quintet who have been making a name for themselves since 2018. The group are known for their songs such as ‘Reoccurrence’, ‘You’ and ‘Mellow Green’. The group have also released an EP with Clonmel based DJ Culla, titled ‘Like it Never Happened’

‘Favourite Place To Be’ opens up in a stripped-back manner with just an acoustic guitar and kick drum. Billy’s vocal soon follows, delivering his lyrics in a hushed tone. Light keys and bass are added to the arrangement before everything kicks in, and the song takes on a new life. Slide guitars and harmonicas fill the void between Billy’s singing, painting an atmosphere that perfectly sums up his style.

Billy said, “This track has a mix of folk and country elements portraying exactly how I want my music to sound. I wrote the song about a place I love, so it came to me pretty quickly. I think people are going to really connect with this one. Everyone has that one place that they can’t live without.”

The solo musician has been working tirelessly on producing music and has released a total of six singles which received significant feedback. Billy has also reached over 15,000 streams on the music platform Spotify and has much more planned for this year.
