Blas na hÉireann Awards to welcome nine finalists from Limerick

Blas na hÉireann Awards – The three-day event will take place in Dingle from Thursday, September 29 to Saturday, October 1.

The Blas na hÉireann food awards have been running for 15 years, with a record number of almost 3,000 entries this year

The countdown to the 2022 Blas na hÉireann Food Awards has begun as all finalists have been announced, with nine coming from Limerick.

The Limerick food businesses shortlisted across a range of different categories are Sodalicious, Attyflin Limited, Ballyhoura Apple Farm, Ballyhoura Mountain Mushrooms, Glen Aine, Kearney’s Home Baking Ltd, Leahy Farmhouse Foods, McMahon Quality Meats and Old Irish Creamery.

The three-day event will take place in Dingle from Thursday, September 29 to Saturday, October 1. This is the first time in two years that an in-person event has taken place. On Thursday, the finalists will showcase their products for potential buyers while The Backyard at Blas, a dedicated space to meet fellow producers, gain knowledge & find support for your business, will be open to the public, and will feature an exciting line up of guest speakers.

On Friday, award winners will be announced and a showcase of products will be open to everyone. Panels and conversations will also be taking place in The Backyard at Blas throughout the day. The showcase and Backyard will also be open on Saturday, with further guest talks taking place.

The Blas na hÉireann Awards will undoubtedly be a fabulous event as the best of the best in terms of Irish food and drink will be on display. Running for 15 years, this year saw the largest number of entries to date – almost 3,000.

We are in awe of the resilience of the people in our industry, and to see so many new producers and products come through again this year just makes the excitement for Blas 2022 even more palpable.”
