Summer is the season to dress up. It is essential to have the perfect dress, hat or whatever meets your desires to create the best outfit for a wedding or a debs. Blue Velvet, previously named Lady Muck’s, is the place to go to find the perfect outfit to suit whatever occasion you’re attending.

Blue Velvet has reopened in 59 Catherine Street in between Nesha’s Threading Bar and Skin 26. It’s the perfect spot to suit every need for getting ready for an occasion so that you can have your dress, brows done and any necessary pampering done all on the same street.

Blue Velvet is ran by the lovely sisters Ursula Looby and Sheila O’Driscoll who share the responsibilities of working around the store. Ursula said “I work Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday morning. Sheila works Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evening. We alternate between who watches the shop on a Monday. We both have children so I’ll watch her children one day and she’ll watch mine the next.”

The shop has a huge variety of items to make your outfit the one that will get everyone talking. Blue Velvet sell Mother of the Bride ranges, debs dresses, jewellery, handbags, eye masks, hats and materials to create your own hats or to build a hat from scratch at the store.

If you are searching for a debs dress of reasonable price, pretty much all of the dresses at Blue Velvet are under the €100 mark so it’s the perfect place for a student. “We used to have dress that were over 150 euros but people prefer to buy dresses under the 100 so now we try to buy nice dresses under the 100 euros and then we have the hats to match it.” Said Ursula.

The shop is open Monday to Saturday from 11am until 5pm.
