The school is encouraging people to begin training now for the event on Saturday, May 22.

The Bohermore National School community will walk or run the 420km it takes to get to and from Croke Park to raise funds to develop an Outdoor Classroom and Sensory Garden at their school grounds. This event will be held on Saturday, May 22 and will involve the whole community in person and remotely.

Bohermore NS commenting on the campaign said, “ We wish to nourish the thoughts and dreams of all our pupils by providing them with a safe and creative space where they can learn, explore, develop and enjoy sensory experiences in a meaningful and memorable way. We would greatly appreciate it if you could support our fundraiser to create a sensory garden and outdoor classroom at our school grounds. It is our plan to include an outdoor classroom space complete with a greenhouse, vegetable patch, raised flower beds and a sensory pathway.”

Bohermore NS, Old School ABC preschool and after school and the wider Bohermore community will benefit greatly from these outdoor facilities. Once Covid-19 restrictions ease, the space is also imagined as an asset for Summer, Easter and Halloween camps.

Bohermore National School is a co-educational primary school with a Catholic ethos and is under the patronage of the Archbishop of Cashel and Emly.

Presently it is a four teacher school.  There are two mainstream classrooms, the Junior Room: from juniors to second class and the Senior Room from second to sixth class, one special class catering for children with ASD class and one Learning Support/ Resource Teacher who is shared with another school.  There are four SNAs working in the school and one secretary bringing the total number of staff to nine.

Bohermore National School is situated at one end of the Parish of Ballybricken & Bohermore and is the last school in the western end of the Archdiocese.  It is situated 5.8 miles from Limerick City Centre.

So far, €3,635 has been raised on their €10,000 goal. Bohermore NS is encouraging the community to start training now for the long journey and is asking and thanking you for your support.
