In addition to the residential units, the project will include extensive hard landscaping, new footpaths, entranceways, boundary treatments, and boundary walls. The existing foul and storm sewers servicing the site will also be upgraded, with the foul sewer upgrade extending into the village of Broadford.

Mayor of Limerick, John Moran, highlighted the importance of providing housing in rural areas to keep towns and villages vibrant: “Addressing the housing crisis is a top priority of Limerick City and County Council. By increasing the supply of social housing in areas like Broadford, we are not only meeting immediate needs but also ensuring that our County towns and villages remain active and populated. This is essential for maintaining the social and economic fabric of our communities.”

Caroline Curley, Director of Service, Housing at Limerick City and County Council, commented: “I am delighted to see this scheme of 11 housing units going to site and look forward to the allocation of much-needed homes in Q3 2026. This development reflects the dedication of Limerick City and County Council to addressing housing needs and improving infrastructure.”
