Foleys @ the Irish Pike Pub and Restaurant
Business Genre

No trip to Ireland is complete without visiting a good pub and listening to traditional Irish Music. Foley’s Traditional Bar & Restaurant is renowned for its hospitality and excellent food.

Originally the establishment was a thatched pub and grocers servicing a large hinterland which included the Palatinate, a large community of people from the Palatinate of the Rhine, who settled at Killeheen around 1712. These people were renowned for their thrifty living and each family had their own particular trade, such as cider making, butter churning & cheese making. A lot of memorabilia and photographs in the bar reflect the economic life of the people.

At the weekends the place comes alive with the haunting sounds of bagpipes, accordions and tambourines, played by local musicians. Many a visitor and locals alike make the pilgrimage to this classic pub to savour the delights of Kate O’s kitchen, named after the former proprietor and Gaelic speaker who came from Clogher, overlooking the Blasket Islands and DunQuin, made famous by its association with the making of the film Ryan’s Daughter. Raised on a hill farm on the seashore, she quickly realised that creating good food requires good ingredients produced locally and prepared with respect and care, thus creating meals that linger long in the memory.

Today Head Chef and owner Darragh Ronan apply the same culinary ethics to his food preparation so that we can enjoy what is around us, both rich and fresh and lets us celebrate our heritage through the simple pleasures of good food.
