Draw Out Limerick has unveiled its most recent addition to the city’s urban artworks with a beautiful butterfly, the latest mural in the Wildlife Walls series, announced by Limerick City and County Council in November 2024 in collaboration with Draw Out Limerick.

The Butterfly is the latest addition to Limerick City’s walls, taking up a prominent place on the side of Spratt’s Island Stores in the historical area of the city.

Completed by local artist, Lulu (Ohhi Uisce), the mural depicts a colourful butterfly on the side of the iconic building, adding to the recent addition of ‘Madra Rua’, the group say the butterfly gives the fox “a buddy to pal with”.

Following the unveiling of the mural, Draw Out shared the image on Instagram, saying, “BOOM! Finished piece on Spratts! Well done to Ohhi Uisce and all involved in bringing this addition to Limerick’s Wildlife Walls to fruition! Next!!”

The mural is part of a wider initiative led by Limerick City and County Council’s Environmental Department in collaboration with Limerick City Build and Limerick’s Draw Out collective. The Wildlife Walls project aims to raise awareness of local biodiversity while enhancing the cityscape with true-to-life depictions of native wildlife.
