Caherconlish Caherline Community Millennium Centre are holding a Business Exposition and Family Fun Day on Sunday September, 11.
The Caherconlish Caherline Community Centre Council was set up in 1992 to establish a hub in the village of Caherconlish for a wide range of community services. The Millennium Centre is a community based non-profit company in Caherconlish which opened in 2000 under the Caherconlish Caherline Community Centre. The centre serves the Caherconlish-Caherline community and wider areas, offering a wide range of services and activities.
The centre has a function room suitable for weddings, family gatherings and business meetings. Activities such as dance classes, music sessions and theatre take place at the Millennium Centre among many others. The wide range of social and recreational events at the Millennium Centre made it very popular in the local community, but the centre unfortunately suffered throughout the Covid-19 pandemic and again in recent months.
After devastating closures throughout the pandemic, the Millennium Centre suffered a fire in September 2021 and had to close again for another eight months. To celebrate the reopening of the Millennium Centre, a Business Expo is being held at the centre on Sunday September, 11 from 2-5pm.
The aim of the exposition is to promote local businesses after a difficult time for enterprise, as well as providing a family fun day for all. Over 80 businesses and services will showcase their service for future customers to a wide broad community, free of charge. The Caherconlish Caherline Community Centre Council are also working with Ballyhoura Development CLG to roll out a Community Planning Survey to ask the community what they do well and what they need to do in the future.
On the day there will be a surprise guest, a seisiún in the park, face painting, a pet farm, an ice cream van, a sweet shop, and access to the playground and the sports hall. Every business will have an exhibitors table, free of charge, to showcase what they are about.
“The Millennium Centre has been a key focal point for young and old over the past 20 plus years to meet, learn, exercise and socialise. The covid restrictions and then the fire has stalled those opportunities for 30 months and to now be open the Expo Community Day is an opportunity for all of our community to come together and celebrate the venue and its services,” said a board member of the Millennium Centre.
