Cáit Moloney appointed Artistic Director and General Manager at The GAFF

The GAFF announces the appointment of Cáit Moloney to lead the company’s artistic and operations management into the next phase of development.
The board of directors of The GAFF is delighted to share the news that Cáit Moloney has been appointed to the position of Artistic Director/General Manager to lead the company’s artistic and operations management into the next phase of development.
A native of Oola, Co. Limerick, Cáit holds a Bachelor’s degree in Politics and English, from University College Cork, and a Masters in Fine Arts in Playwriting, from The Lir Academy, Trinity College. She was the recipient of the Patricia Leggett Scholarship for Playwriting (2021/2), the Pavilion Residency in 2023, and recently, the Cill Rialaig Residency with the Irish Writer’s Centre.
She has worked as a visual art facilitator with the Solstice Arts Centre, a drama practitioner with the Swift Cultural Centre, a front of house manager for the Gate Theatre, and she has also worked with the Literary and New Work department in the Abbey Theatre. Some of her writing credits include; The Company (One Giant Leap), Tastes like Chicken (Ranelagh Arts Festival, Phizzfest Arts Festival), Prosecco Wedding (Smock Alley Theatre), Marnie (Film Limerick), Engines of Play (The Lir), and radio documentary Enter the Stranger (co-created with composer Rob Moloney) with Dublin Fringe Festival x Dublin Digital Radio.

Commenting on the new appointment, Padhraic Hastings, Chairperson of The GAFF said, “As we enter a key point in the development of our company, with three new artists’ workspaces nearing completion and our home on Lord Edward St. about to become fully operational, The GAFF warmly welcomes Cáit as our inaugural Artistic Director and General Manager.
“Since inception, we have been guided by the principles of equality, diversity and inclusion and, in Cáit, we recognise a vision and capacity to take those values and combine them with her own artistic integrity and extensive management experience to lead and develop our programme of work.
We are grateful, as always, to Limerick City and County Council, The Arts Council, the Department of Culture Communications and Sport, The JP McManus Benevolent Fund, RETHINK Ireland, Community Foundation for Ireland and to College Players, all of whose support enables The GAFF to initiate and continue its work in Limerick and Munster.”
Cáit Moloney takes up her position of Artistic Director/General Manager at The GAFF in mid August.
