The company plans to implement various mitigation measures to minimise potential disturbances that could be made to the environment around the canal area during the construction phases of the development.

Fresh plans have been submitted for a €108m housing development along with Canal Bank in Limerick which will provide over 440 new living units.

Revington Developments have lodged a new application with An Bord Pleanála after their original application was rejected in 2020 due to significant deficiencies in the Natural Impact Statement which led to An Bord Pleanála rejecting their application for the build.

An Bord Pleanála was not happy with the lack of information on the potential impact on otters and the watercourses of the Lower River Shannon Special Area of Conservation.

There were also issues regarding the lack of information provided about the impact of the Canal Bank Limerickdevelopment on the proposed development on the River Shannon and River Fergus Estuaries Special Protection Area on the Park Canal and nearby Wetlands.

The new plans have been submitted for a €108 million housing development along with the Canal Bank in Limerick which is going to provide over 363 build to rent apartments consisting of 18 houses, 61 student apartments and 189-bed spaces.

The Canal Bank Limerickplans will involve the demolition of the existing warehouse building on-site and will provide three retail units, a café, a creche and management offices.

New works composed of new vehicular entrances onto Pa Healy Road, Park Road and City Canal will be developed on the site. Bin storage will be made available for all developments adjacent to the entrances.

A new public park along the city canal will be enforced with communal open space and a communal roof garden will be included for all apartments.

The new application is almost identical to the previous plan, but Revington Developments have vouched for providing updated environmental reports so that there will be no further concerns by An Bord Pleanála.

The company plans to implement various mitigation measures to minimise potential disturbances that could be made to the environment around the canal area during the construction phases of the development.

The development plans to address the housing needs of all types of homeowners and will provide accommodation for almost 1,000 people.

A decision is hoped to be made by An Bord Pleanala at the end of July and if it is accepted, will provide vital adequate housing in Limerick.
