The Corpus Christi School Children’s Choir will join this year’s event

This annual Christmas concert, a beloved tradition, will support Limerick Suicide Watch in its essential mission to aid those facing mental health crises.

Since its founding in 2015, Cantate Deo has evolved from a small circle of dedicated singers into one of Limerick’s most acclaimed choirs, recognized as Limerick’s Best Choir in 2017. With a commitment to bringing people together through music, Cantate Deo is honoured this year to dedicate its Christmas concert to support Limerick Suicide Watch, an organisation providing life-saving resources and compassionate outreach to individuals in crisis.

On December 14 at 19:30, St. Michael’s Church will come alive with the sounds of traditional Polish and English carols, sharing messages of hope, peace, and unity. Under the esteemed direction of Máire Keary-Scanlon, the concert will feature a performance by the renowned Seoda Chamber Choir and will also welcome the Corpus Christi School Children’s Choir, whose youthful voices will bring a unique and heartwarming presence to the evening. The children’s choir adds a special warmth, making the concert an even more uplifting celebration as they join in song with the community.

This event represents a true collective effort, with all performers—singers and instrumentalists alike—volunteering their time to maximize the concert’s impact. All proceeds from a bucket collection at the entrance will go directly to support Limerick Suicide Watch. For those unable to attend, donations can be made via Cantate Deo’s iDonate page.

Cantate Deo Choir hopes this concert will inspire the Limerick community to come together, reminding all that “individually, we are one drop, but together, we are an ocean,” in the words of Ryunosuke Satoro. This concert is not just a seasonal celebration but a call to support those who may be experiencing their darkest moments.

Cantate Deo invites everyone to join them, to bring loved ones, and to share in an evening of heartfelt choral music. Together, through unity and song, the Limerick community can make a meaningful difference this holiday season.
