Limerick City and County Council in partnership with the Rediscovery Centre is hosting a free webinar called Slow Fashion & Capsule Wardrobe as part of the Limerick European Green Leaf 2020 webinar series.

Slow fashion is the widespread reaction to fast fashion. It’s thoughtful, intentional, and holistic. It’s also an argument for hitting the brakes on excessive production, overcomplicated supply chains, and mindless consumption. The term was coined by Kate Fletcher, professor of Sustainability, Design, and Fashion at the University of the Arts London’s Centre for Sustainable Fashion, after the slow food movement grew popular.

The goal of a capsule wardrobe is simple: to minimize your clothing expenses. Fast fashion is seen as one of the fundamental causes of many sustainable issues the industry faces. To combat you can build a capsule wardrobe. Now that you have revisited your closet, you must have realized that you prefer certain pieces of clothing more than others. Maybe you’ve discovered a favorite color or a certain style like long dresses, or sleeveless blouses. Use these themes to guide your future purchases, and avoid spending money on clothes you are never going to use.

In this workshop, Arran Murphy, Rediscover Fashion’s Programme Manager, will help you become a conscious consumer by giving you tips on how to create your own capsule wardrobe without limiting your options for looking great!

It will allow you to channel your ‘inner fashionista’ and is a fantastic opportunity to gain an insight into our fashion habits and how to empower changes that will help the environment, save you money and improve your wardrobe.

The webinar is a European Green Leaf 2020 event, celebrating Limerick City as European Green Leaf City and coincides with October as National Reuse Month. The Rediscovery Centre is the National Academy for the Circular Economy.

Slow Fashion & Capsule Wardrobe webinar takes place on Tuesday 20 October 2020 at 8pm.
