Carers Association Masquerade Ball 2013 Thomond Park – PHOTOS
Limerick Masquerade Ball
Thomond Park hosted the first ‘Limerick Masquerade Ball’ to raise money for the Carers Association which will help raise vital funds for the 16,500 family carers across Limerick, North Tipperary and Clare. Supported by the HSE, the local authority and Thomond Park the event followed on from a fair on the previous day, in which businesses and voluntary agencies can sell their products. Catherine Cox, the charity’s head of communications, said that as well as raising money, raising awareness of carers is key. “Carers come from all walks of life. But what they all have in common is they provide that care out of love for the person,” she explained. Money raised will help the association to provide carers with training, counselling and emotional support. The work of family carers can be rewarding but the cost of that care in physical, emotional and psychological terms can be immense. O’Malley Park-born Young Carers of the Year Mandy and Sam Norris launched the ball. See www.carersireland.com
