Sports Psychologist, Caroline Currid has been announced to return to the Limerick Senior Hurling backroom staff for the 2026 season.

Currid previously served on the backroom team for the Limerick Senior Hurlers in their All-Ireland-winning season in 2023 before stepping away from the team, who are yet to win the Liam McCarthy Cup under manager John Kiely without the sports psychologist.

A key member to Limerick’s success, Caroline was part of the team in 2018 when Limerick won the All-Ireland and was subsequently not involved in the 2019 campaign. Her importance was shown when she returned to the team between 2020 to 2023, the county’s most successful period in senior hurling, which saw them win four All-Ireland titles and four Munster championships.

The news was confirmed by Limerick GAA when they shared an article published by the Limerick Leader which highlighted the appointment of Currid.

A Sligo native, Caroline Currid has experience All-Ireland glory in a number of counties, including the Tipperary hurling team and was also part of the backroom staff for football glory with All-Ireland winning Dublin and Tyrone teams.

Cairbre Ó’Cairealláin, Strength and Conditioning Coach with the Limerick Senior Hurling Team, previously spoke about the sport psychologist’s important impact, saying, “Caroline was very good at having conversations, checking in with me around players, how they were doing in the gym and where I thought they were at. A lot of Caroline’s work was those conversations and subtly going about her business. If something was flagged up on her end or my end, we would come together and put a plan together for someone.”
