Castleconnell Boat Club 5/10K – Recycling Rocks Race

Castleconnell Boat Club 5/10K – Kick start the summer season with the Castleconnell “Recycling Rocks” race this Sunday 31st March.

Castleconnell Boat Club 5/10K – Recycling Rocks Race

Castleconnell’s legendary sporting attraction, the 5/10K fun run, which raises much needed funds for Castleconnell Boat Club, takes place on Sunday 31st March at 1pm. The 10K timed road race and 5K run/walk is always a great day out for experienced runners as well as families with a buggy friendly 5K course. This year Castleconnell Boat Club are delighted to announce a “Recycling Rocks” race to show their commitment to reducing plastic waste and keeping the beautiful village of Castleconnell clean. Thanks to the wonderful support of the Environmental section of Limerick City & County Council, there will be no need for disposable plastic bottles as reusable cups are provided on the day! Serious contenders are asked to bring their own self watering pouches if required and all competitors will receive a reusable water bottle at the end of the race.

The 5km race will have no water station on the route and the 10km station will have one water station where volunteers from CCBC will fill the reusable glasses. Further down the 10K route there will be another team of volunteers collecting the reusable glasses and all competitors are encouraged to place the reusable glasses in the bags. The reusable glasses will be then be washed and used by other clubs as required for further sporting events.

Complimentary Tea & Coffee and light refreshments will also be provided after the race in Castleconnell Community Hall using compostable cups and spoons only, thanks to sponsorship from Cunningham’s SuperValu in Castleconnell, Richardsons Fresh Foods and Near To Nature.

Register online for this fun event anytime up to Friday 29th March 2019 or on the day from 10:30am to 12:30pm at the Castleconnell Community Hall. Participants who have registered online, can go to the Castleconnell Community Hall between 10:30am and 12:30pm to collect their Bib number on race day. This year the start for both the 10K and 5K events are in the cul-de-sac near Charco’s Pub restaurant. This is a 15 min walk from the Registration area in the Castleconnell Community Hall so please allow yourself plenty of time ahead of the 1:00pm start time.
