Lessons can be scheduled once covid restrictions allow.

Like many other sports clubs, Castleconnell Boat Club has been hit hard by Covid 19 with members unable to get out and row on the river or gather together to train during lockdowns. Even though the rowing has stopped, the bills for insurance and maintenance continue so the club has been looking at innovative ways to raise the funds needed so they are ready to get back into action when restrictions permit.

The boat club is offering rowing lessons to members of the public as a means to attract people into the wonderful sport of rowing and to help pay the bills whilst looking forward to getting back to a normal schedule of training, leisure, and racing events. Priced at €30 the lesson will involve time learning rowing techniques with a qualified coach and time on the water to help you get to grips with how a boat feels on the water. Individual or group lessons can be purchased, lessons can be scheduled once covid restrictions allow.

A spokesperson for Castleconnell Boat Club explains, “You’ve never seen the River Shannon until you’ve seen it from the River Shannon. The feeling of gliding across the water in near silence is second to none. There’s no better way to get close to nature, have fun, and improve your fitness at the same time.”

Castleconnell Boat Club was founded 30 years ago and is situated in a unique and picturesque location on the banks of the River Shannon in the village of Castleconnell, Co. Limerick and takes advantage of a beautiful stretch of water between O’Brien’s Bridge and World’s End. It is only 6 miles from Limerick City and 3 miles from the University of Limerick.
