Castletroy College is inviting students to their 2026 Careers Day, which will showcase the wide range of opportunities available for young people

From apprenticeships and earn-and-learn routes to university courses and careers in technology, engineering, healthcare and public service, the Castletroy College Careers Day will highlight that there is no single path to success for young people in today’s workforce.
Taking place on Saturday, February 7, from 10 am-1 pm, the event will see Castletroy College, one of the largest secondary schools in Munster, open its doors to parents, students and members of the wider Limerick community.
The day will also provide an opportunity for the community to meet some of Castletroy College’s young innovators. Five student teams from the school participated in this year’s Stripe Young Scientist and Technology Exhibition, sponsored by John and Patrick Collison, both past pupils of Castletroy College.
The Careers Day is aimed at Transition Year, Fifth Year, and Leaving Certificate students, providing practical insight into the wide range of options available after school, both within and beyond third-level education.
Following the enormous success of last year’s inaugural event, this year’s Careers Day will feature more than 23 exhibitors from across industry, education and the public sector. Students will have the opportunity to engage directly with employers, training providers and higher education institutions representing sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, finance, aviation, engineering, technology, construction and public service.
Exhibitors on the day include Johnson & Johnson, Cook Medical, EI Electronics, Shortts Stainless Steel, ESB, Ryanair, Analog Devices, An Garda Síochána, BDO, Edward Lifesciences, University Hospital Limerick Maternity Services, and Irish Rail, among others.
Several higher education institutions will also be represented, including University of Limerick (UL), Technological University of the Shannon (TUS), Mary Immaculate College, University of Galway, University College Cork and Shannon Hotel School of Management.
Five panel discussions will take place throughout the day, featuring industry leaders speaking on Finance, Engineering, Technology, Women in STEM, and Earn & Learn pathways, giving students the chance to hear directly from professionals about real-world career journeys.
A popular attraction from last year, ‘Spot’ the Robot, will also return, offering attendees a hands-on opportunity to experience artificial intelligence in action.
Castletroy College Principal, Brian O’Donoghue, said the event reflects the strong community spirit within the school and the commitment of local and regional partners to supporting young people as they plan their futures.
“We were thrilled with the success of last year’s event and are deeply grateful to our Parents and Guardians Association, and in particular its chairperson Louise Platt, for the tremendous work she has put into leading this year’s Careers Day.
“We have a strong community spirit in our school, and we are delighted that so many local and regional stakeholders have once again come on board to support this valuable opportunity for our students and for young people living in the wider area.”
Parents and students interested in attending or seeking further information are encouraged to contact Castletroy College directly via the school office at 061-335700 or by email at [email protected]
