Top Chef Catherine Fulvio in Limerick for World Food Day 2017 free event
Top TV chef, author and owner of Ballyknocken House and Cookery School will be cooking up a storm in the Millennium Theatre in Limerick on World Food Day, Monday 16 October 2017.
Expect quirky, imaginative seasonal recipes which the top chef will pepper with her own tried and tested food waste prevention tips.
As a nation, we generate two tonnes of food waste every minute, yet one person in every eight goes hungry.
Add to this that the average family throws out about €700 of food a year, we know this is an issue that needs to be tackled.
Rather than preach at people to encourage them on a more sustainable ‘managing food at home’ path Limerick City and County Council, Limerick’s Live 95fm and the Millennium Theatre LIT have joined forces to bring Catherine to Limerick to celebrate all things food related and that includes food waste.
So as well as the imaginative seasonal recipes that Catherine will demo on the night the evening will be also seasoned with the top chef’s food waste prevention tips.
Catherine said: “I am delighted to be invited to Limerick’s Millennium Theatre to celebrate World Food Day on the 16 October. During my demonstration, I will share tips and advice on reducing food waste while preparing some easy and doable dishes to be tried out at home.”
Helen O’Donnell Chair of Limerick City Centre Tidy Towns, which recently received a Bronze Medal said: “It is wonderful to have one of Ireland’s top chefs in Limerick sharing her knowledge and love for cooking along with emphasising the importance of food waste prevention.”
Sinead Mc Donnell, Environment Awareness Officer with Limerick City and County Council added: “Preventing food waste is a key aim of the Southern Regional Waste Management Plan. It is important that we continue to find creative ways to engage on this issue. It is great to have Catherine on board during national reuse month to assist in getting the message out there while at the same time engaging us with her culinary skills.”
This is a ticketed event but the tickets are FREE!
Ballyknocken House now also offers packages where you can BOOK Catherine for your Food Waste Prevention Activity and watch Catherine share her enthusiasm and passion for food, her genuine interest in food waste prevention and benefit from her strong media profile in order to support your local campaign.
