Local Limerick man, Evan Cronin, is turning into local Limerick legend as he organises another event in aid of charity. The thirty-four-year-old father of four has already completed a skydive for CARI (a charity providing support and therapy for children affected by sexual abuse), a treadmill marathon in Raheen, and now he’s looking to swim the English Channel this September for the Make-A-Wish foundation.

He has decided to swim the English Channel because, as he said, “more people have climbed Everest than have swum the Channel,” continuing to say that he has “always said I would do something for Make-A-Wish, and this could be my last hurrah, so I might as well make it this.”

His current plan is to raise €25,000 through his everyday hero fund, as well as the few events he has hosted in preparation for the swim. Already Evan has hosted a 100km swimathon, a head/leg waxing night and he is planning multiple bag packing events that will be happening in the next few months.

Currently, Evan is putting together an online raffle. How to enter is simple. For every donation you make through the everyday hero charity page, you will be sent a number, which is your ticket to the raffle. All funds raised go directly to the Make-A-Wish Ireland foundation account.

At the moment, Evan is looking for people and organizations to donate prizes. All prizes, services, and vouchers are welcome to be donated and greatly appreciated. Every company, business or person that donates will be recognised on multiple occasions through online presence on everydayhero.com, as well as Evan’s Facebook Channel Swim page, Twitter, and Instagram.

The draw is going to take place live on Facebook on April 22nd, 2018.
