A Walk to Remember 2017 fundraising for Chernobyl Children’s Trust

A Walk to Remember 2017 fundraising for Chernobyl Children’s Trust

A group of teachers from Corpus Christi Primary School in Limerick have organised – A Walk to Remember 2017 on Saturday, June 17. This walk is certainly one to remember where participants are asked to dress up in fancy dress whilst taking part in a fun walk. A Walk to Remember 2017 have chosen Keeper Hill in Tipperary for this year’s walk. Dogs and children are welcome to take part too. There will be loads of prizes on the day, including best dressed!

Chernobyl Children's TrustChernobyl Children’s Trust is a non-denominational, non-political, humanitarian organisation. They work in partnership with community-based Belarusian organisations to bring children to Ireland for recuperation holidays. Chernobyl Children’s Trust also operates essential programmes for the advocacy and support for disabilities, poverty and sickness, the promotion of health and community development for marginalised children and their families, throughout Belarus.

This fundraiser is raising money for a fantastic charity; Chernobyl Children’s Trust. The charity is delighted to announce the setting up of a palliative care unit in Cherven Orphanage in Belarus for seriously and terminally ill children. This will see a significant improvement in the level of care and comfort for the most fragile children.

Part of this new care unit involves many of the children being fitted with PEG sets (medical devices for children who can’t take food via the mouth). The Trust has supplied the PEG sets and is now committed to supplying the food for these sets. In order to do this A Walk To Remember 2017 is hoping that the people of Limerick will help us in raising €5,000 to supply a year’s worth of food. This will give the most unwell children comfort, nutrition and the ability to gain strength.

The aim of A Walk to Remember 2017 is to raise funds and awareness for the Chernobyl Children’s Trust. If you or any of your friends and family are up for a fun day out please get in touch via Facebook or email Aisling Danagher and A Walk to Remember 2017 will send you a sponsorship card. If the walk is just not your thing but you would like to help out, A Walk to Remember 2017 would love if you could do your own fundraiser to help them reach this goal, which they would, of course, support you in this.
