Croom Family Resource Centre tailors its support to the community’s needs, with a large focus on children and families by providing a childcare service with “Clever Clogs”

Croom Family Resource Centre works closely with the community, tailoring everything the centre provides to the needs of the people living in the area, with one of its most prominent focuses being on children and families.

As a response to the community needs, Croom Family Resource Centre provides childcare services through “Clever Clogs”, which is based in the neighbouring Old National School.

Eibhlís Bray, Croom Family Resource Centre Manager, said, “Childcare is a huge need in this community, there isn’t a huge amount of childcare available, but there is quite a number of children, so we’re trying to offer a really good, affordable community childcare service.”

The childcare service offered by Croom Family Resource Centre caters for children from preschool age up to after-school, sixth class at primary school level. The group offers pre-school care, breakfast clubs as well as after-school service as well as offering further services such as Sumer Camps and Halloween Camps.

“Some of the needs we see in our service are for one-to-one parenting support, family support, we would have specialist therapeutic support we bring into the centre, for example; child-play therapy,” said Eibhlís.

The Croom Family Resource Centre manager described the service as being “really active and growing” and is happy to have seen the service “grow a lot this year and feel that it is going to continue to grow”.

Expressing her gratitude to Croom National School for their support in helping obtain their space, Eibhlís said the growth has been easier with having their own premises:

“They finally have their own premises, so that’s really been exciting that we can grow that service in line with the need of this community.”

Croom FRC has recently launched their newly designed, user-friendly website at www.croomfrc.com which allows people to find services available to them in one easy-to-navigate place.
