Dance Limerick will present a playful dance show “Elephant Walk” by Célestine Hennermann for children aged 2-5yrs on Saturday 30 May at 2.30pm.  With smitten penguins, humorous seals, a lazy caravan of camels, a hen laying eggs, a dog, a cat and, of course, elephants, this light-hearted piece explores the movement of animals and transports the young audience into a world of big and small colourful surprises.  Especially created to delight very little ones, children can join the dancers on set at the end of the performance to try out their own animal moves as part of this magical dance experience.  Tickets EUR8.00 (individual) and EUR30.00 (family of 4) from here.

Albi Gika and Katherina Wiedenhofer performing in “Elephant Walk” by Celestine Hennermann, at Dance Limerick on Saturday 30 May at 2.30pm. For children aged 2-5yrs and their families, this light-hearted piece explores the movement of animals and transports the very young audience into a world of big and small colourful surprises. Tickets EUR8.00 (individual) / EUR30.00 (family of 4)

Created by German choreographer Célestine Hennermann, “Elephant Walk” sees two highly skilled dancers bring an array of familiar creatures alive on stage, using dozens of multi-coloured buckets to evoke the natural habitats of the animals, transforming the scene from a landscape of ice and snow into a farm, or water, or clouds…  Supported by an evocative sound collage by composer Gregor Praml, contemporary dancer Katharina Wiedenhofer and hip hop dancer Albi Gika convincingly portray the animals and offer the young audience and their imaginations endless opportunities for fun.

Announcing details of the performance, Jenny Traynor, Director of Dance Limerick, says “We’re really pleased to welcome Célestine Hennermann and her wonderful show “Elephant Walk” to Limerick.  It’s a beautiful opportunity for very young children and their families to experience dance in a light-hearted, creative way.  They’ll all have the chance to be a little animal themselves at the end of the show when they get to go on stage with the performers, so it’s bound to be great fun!”

About Célestine Hennermann
Choreographer and dramaturg Célestine Hennermann trained in Frankfurt, Paris and Seattle, and has worked as a dramaturg and curator at Ballett Frankfurt, the TAT at Bockenheimer and with William Forsythe.  In addition to directing productions with hip hop group E-Motion and Helena Waldmann, she has developed her own style of theatre and dance shows for children, in particular with the collective 2+.  To enable the youngest children to experience the world of dance, Célestine creates bright, active shows, full of colours, sounds and atmosphere, which engage babies and toddlers alike.  Her dancers are playful role models and after each performance children are invited on stage to re-enact the show they have just experienced and make it their own.  Célestine’s previous shows for very young audiences include “I Spy with My Little Eye”, “MiniMAX” and, in 2014, “Creating My Own Tomorrow”.
