Cian Lynch tells Limerick supporters to ‘paint the town green’ at the homecoming celebrations and encourages young athletes to ‘live your dreams’

Limerick Senior Hurling Captain, Cian Lynch, has told Limerick supporters to “paint the town green” during the homecoming celebrations following their historic season, bringing the Liam MacCarthy Cup back to the Treaty.
Lynch and his teammates, as well as manager John Kiely, were grateful for the support shown to them throughout the season, with Lynch saying he is “so proud” to bring the cup back to Limerick.
Speaking with I Love Limerick, Cian Lynch said he was “absolutely relieved” to get the All-Ireland final win, adding, “And I suppose so proud to be able to come back to this beautiful city and county, and see what it means to the people. So we’re blessed. It’s unbelievable.”
Giving advice to any young players hoping to make their impact in whatever sport they play, Lynch said, “ Just live your dreams, believe in yourself, and know where you come from and know your club. Enjoy playing with your club, and for us, playing with Limerick, representing our city and county, it’s a special place and a special city, and we’re blessed.”

When asked about the time and dedication needed to succeed at the Limerick senior level, Lynch said, “It’s what we love. Do you know, you grow up playing underage, and your parents are sacrificing everything, bringing you training and stuff.
“But you make friends for life, and to any young girl or young boy, just stick at something. If you love it, stick at it. That’s when you know you’re doing something that means something to you.”
During the celebrations, Lynch sang a rendition of ‘Black is the Colour’ with the support of the thousands of Limerick fans packed into Pery Square. The Limerick captain hopes they all enjoy the celebrations, saying, “ Paint the city green, live every minute like it’s your last, and enjoy the next few months!”
