Taking place in an alternative history 2010s America, Sinclair’s Secret follows high school student Edwin Quincy and his investigation into Sinclair Academy a boarding school that has been plagued with rumours since it was founded in 2009. While at the school he discovers that the school contains a gold urn that serves as a gateway to a dimension called Kólasi, while at Sinclair’s Quincy is captured by America’s Head Senator Michael Ramirez and is forced to spend a year at the school to avoid punishment for trespassing, working as part of the Kólasi Team, a group of students tasked with destroying Kólasi, which is inhabited by hostile inhabitants lead by Dike, the Greek Goddess of Justice.

Other major characters Alice Cevenini, Alexis Blokhin and Nathan Ramirez, members of the Kólasi Team; Jeremy Sinclair, the school’s principal; Charles Stynes the school’s principal prior to Sinclair’s appointment; Emma and George Featheringham, two of the school’s prefects; Nolan Spencer, Sinclair’s head prefect; and The Exquisite Eight, a group of troublesome students lead by Simon Menvile and his girlfriend Stephanie Bartley, who target the Kólasi team whenever possible.

Though it is the first book Winter has published, it is not his first written piece. “This story was to be a sequel to Dimitri’s Den, my first written manuscript,” he said. “Now that Sinclair’s is over the line, I need to update Dimitri and bring it up to the same standard as Sinclair’s. After that, if interest in this storyline remains high enough, I’ll then be able to start work on the third and final instalment. I’ve yet to decide the plot and name of the third entry.”
