Alan Quinlan (former Munster, Irish and Lions Rugby player and current tv pundit)  along with members of the Cliona’s Foundation Cycle club launched the Foundation’s 8th Clionas Foundation Annual Cycle which will take place this year on Saturday August 28h.

The cycle will be starting from the Honeyfitz Theatre in Lough Gur, just 20km from Limerick city.

With three routes including a 10km for kiddies and funsters, a 40K family cycle and the 90km Cliona’s Foundation Challenge the organisers have appealed to cyclists with all levels of ability. This year the cycling club are appealing to families to join them on their new 40km route which is aimed at families and leisure cyclists. Following the cycle there’s a BBQ, face painting, music and a bouncy castle to keep the entire family entertained.

The Foundation would also like to say a big thank you to Halfords in Limerick who will be providing a free bike check to everybody participating in the cycle on the day.

At the launch in Limerick Alan Quinlan said “I am delighted to be able to support Cliona’s Foundation, I think that they are a wonderful organisation and really admire the work that they do. Their annual cycle is a great family day out and I would encourage people of all ages to get involved.”

Cliona’s Foundation provides financial assistance to critically ill children all over Ireland. Founded in 2007 by Brendan and Terry Ring, in memory of their daughter Cliona who died of an inoperable brain tumour, Cliona’s Foundation has raised in excess of €870,000 already helping more than 320 families across Ireland.  Cliona’s Foundation receives no financial state support and relies on the generosity of the public for support and to ensure its continuity.
