Take part in Cliona’s Foundation Galtymore Challenge to raise vital funds
Are you ready to participate in the exciting Cliona’s Foundation Galtymore Challenge and also raise much-needed funds for the families of children with a life-limiting condition?
The Cliona’s Foundation Galtymore challenge will take place on Saturday 28th October and the Foundation is looking for 50 people to walk with them and raise €200, all of which will go directly to supporting families with the non- medical costs of caring for their child
Galtymore is a 919 m mountain on the border between counties Limerick and Tipperary, Republic of Ireland. It is the highest of the Galtee Mountains and the 14th highest peak in Ireland. The walk will take approximately 4-5 hours and requires a good level of fitness.
The walk will commence from and return to the car park in Skeheenarinky which is 11km from Mitchelstown and ground conditions will consist of some rocky path and open moorland.
Brendan Ring founder of Cliona’s Foundation commented “ This s the 1st time the Foundation has organised such an event like this and we are hoping that some of the many that walk and climb every weekend either individually or as part of walking club /work group will lend their support. It also gives people the opportunity to complete a challenge while helping others. I personally am looking forward to it as I understand it is a fantastic climb and there are spectacular views of Munster from the top on a clear day”
Kicking off at 9 am from the car park all participants will receive a complimentary packed lunch and drink compliments of Carambola, a Cliona’s Foundation neck warmer, the services of the excellent guide Mike Moroney and also a certificate confirming and acknowledging completion of the challenge and support of Cliona’s Foundation.
Cliona’s Foundation is the only Irish charity providing financial support to the families of children with a life-limiting condition all over the Country from birth up to the age of 16 years of age to help with the nonmedical costs of caring for their child. These costs can include accommodation, car parking, travel, childcare and specialist equipment. They have supported over 450 families over the past 10 years, 72 to date this year and currently have a waiting list of approx. 25 families.
The Foundation receives no state funding so events like this are critical to enable the Foundation to continue to support those in need
Pre-registration is required so if you want to sign up for this challenge please contact [email protected] or call 061 – 331333
