Limerick’s Colin Ryan has claimed his third All-Ireland Poc Fada title following a standout 2026 performance in County Louth

Pallasgreen hurler, Colin Ryan, has claimed another All-Ireland title for Limerick this year as he brings home the 2026 All-Ireland Poc Fada title following an incredible showing at Annaverna Mountain on the Cooley Peninsula in County Louth.

The Limerick hurler was still riding high having been part of John Kiely’s All-Ireland Senior Hurling title-winning team, where he was substitute goalkeeper in the championship-winning squad.

The Limerick player successfully defended his crown, earning his third title, completing the 5-kilometre course in just 51 pucks of the ball, beating second-place Bobby Douglas from Mayo by just one puck.

Ryan first won the competition in 2021 and settled for a second-place spot in the following three competitions before taking the crown in 2025, with both wins coming on a shortened course, before retaining this year’s title on the full course, showing his true skill.

Poc Fada is Irish for “long puck”. An All-Ireland Poc Fada Championship was founded in 1960 and is held annually, testing the skills of many of the top Hurling and Camogie players.

The Pallasgreen man’s win adds to a successful year in Gaelic Games for Limerick as they celebrated the All-Ireland Senior Hurling Final win in July, which saw the team bring the Liam MacCarthy Cup back to the Treaty for the first time in 3 years.

This year’s success also saw the Limerick Minor Hurling Team defeat Tipperary to earn what is Limerick’s first Minor All-Ireland championship in 42 years, thanks to the comeback win.
